Sept. 3, 2003 — A politician, rumored to be running for Governor of California and facing dangerous charges, remained tight-lipped throughout a closed-door hearing of the 6000-member Privacy Commission and their immediate families, co-workers, and general acquaintances, although in response to direct questioning he did clearly state, “That is not my wife, or at least I don't think so.”

The evidence, however, was persuasive. A crack team of elderly matrons was dispatched to cover the eyes of children and others under the age of 45. They sprang into action while committee members circulated a set of compromising photographs of the Senator bound in a hardcover octavo edition featuring a preface by New York art historian Rosalind Krauss. Several of the top-flight group, known as "Team Yenta," spit between their fingers afterwards as a precautionary measure.
